Manchester United Manager Ruben Amorim Shares Latest Team Update Ahead of the Manchester Derby – Will Mason Mount Start?
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has provided an update on his squad ahead of the upcoming Manchester Derby this weekend. One of the main points of focus is the potential return of Mason Mount to the starting lineup.
Throughout the 2024/2025 season, Mount has often been sidelined from the first team due to injuries that have disrupted his form. However, the English midfielder has started to show signs of recovery and has made a return to action for the Red Devils. He has come off the bench in two consecutive matches following a lengthy injury layoff.
Ahead of the crucial clash against Manchester City, Amorim revealed that Mount could be in contention to start the match—depending on his physical condition.
Mason Mount Back to Full Fitness
In a pre-match press conference, Ruben Amorim confirmed that Mount’s physical condition has significantly improved. He mentioned that the midfielder has undergone intensive training sessions and is ready to play at a high level again.
“Mason Mount is fit and ready to play from the start. He’s been training hard, and his body is ready for the challenge,” Amorim said, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
Final Decision Still Pending
Despite the positive update, Amorim emphasized that no final decision has been made regarding Mount’s place in the starting eleven. The Portuguese manager wants to continue monitoring Mount’s physical and mental readiness before making a definitive call.
“We’ll keep assessing his condition. Sometimes, mental readiness is just as important as physical fitness,” Amorim added. “He’s fit to play, but we’ll see on Sunday whether he’s ready to start or not,” he told SBOTOP.
Kobbie Mainoo Also Back in Action
In addition to Mount, Amorim also confirmed a boost to United’s squad with the return of Kobbie Mainoo. The young midfielder, who had previously been sidelined with an injury, is now fully recovered and ready to reinforce the team in this high-stakes derby.
