Malaysia’s rising women’s doubles pair Go Pei Kee and Teoh Mei Xing are riding high on confidence after an impressive run at the China Open 2025, where they reached their first-ever Super 1000 quarter-finals. Their performance hаѕ ѕраrkеd frеѕh аmbіtіоnѕ to сlіnсh a BWF World Tоur tіtlе іn thе near future, especially at the Super 300 or Suреr 500 lеvеl.
Rаnkеd Wоrld Nо. 22, Pеі Kее аnd Mеі Xіng dеlіvеrеd thеіr best tоurnаmеnt ѕhоwіng of thе уеаr іn Chаngzhоu, оvеrсоmіng tough opposition tо reach thе lаѕt eight. Although their campaign ended at the hands of the formidable World No. 9 Chinese duo Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian, the Malaysians left the court with their heads held high.
Learning from the Best: A Tough Quarter-Final Battle
In the quarter-finals, Go and Teoh faced a major test against Yi Fan—an Olympic gold medalist—and Shu Xian. The Chinese stars were dominant, winning 21-7, 21-15 in just 34 minutes, demonstrating their class and tactical superiority.
Despite the straight-game loss, Teoh Mei Xing believes the experience has reinforced their belief that they can compete with the world’s best on the BWF World Tour.
“This is definitely our best performance this year,” said Mei Xing in a post-match interview. “We’re disappointed we couldn’t go further, but credit must go to our opponents. They were faster, sharper, and more cohesive on court.”
Growing Pains, Valuable Lessons
Friday’s match marked the fourth consecutive loss for Go-Mei Xing against the Chinese pair. Yet, rather than dwell on the defeat, they see it as a valuable learning opportunity.
“Their court coverage and shot variety have improved tremendously,” added Mei Xing. “They’re not just fast, but tactically very clever. From them, we learn the importance of pace, power, and smart execution.”
Indeed, the pair emphasized that their exposure to such high-level matches is helping them grow, both in terms of confidence and strategic maturity.
A Season of Steady Progress
The 2025 season has been a positive one for Go and Teoh. In addition to their China Open performance, the pair reached the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters (Super 500), as well as the German Open and Orleans Masters—both Super 300 events. These consistent results reflect a steady upward trajectory for the Malaysian duo.
Their sole title win so far came at the Malaysia Super 100 in October 2024, but their hunger for more success remains stronger than ever.
Macau Open Next – Eyes on a Title
Next up, Go Pei Kee and Teoh Mei Xing will travel to the Macau Open 2025, a Super 300 tournament, where they are seeded fourth. With several top-ranked pairs opting to skip the event, this presents a golden opportunity for them to go deep and perhaps even win their first higher-tier title.
“We’ve built some good momentum from the China Open,” said Mei Xing. “Now we want to capitalize on that and go for a title. A Super 300 or 500 win would be a huge step forward for us.”
As the season continues, all eyes will be on Malaysia’s top women’s doubles hopefuls. Their determination, work ethic, and consistent improvement make them exciting contenders in any tournament they enter.
