Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has shared the latest update regarding Benjamin Sesko, who recently suffered a knee injury. The news has drawn significant attention as the young striker is one of Manchester United’s key summer signings, expected to play a pivotal role in the club’s attacking lineup.

Amorim reassured fans that Sesko’s injury is not as serious as initially feared, but emphasized the importance of a careful recovery process to ensure the forward returns in optimal condition.

Sesko’s Injury in Context of a Busy Schedule

The timing of Sesko’s setback comes at a challenging period for Manchester United. The squad faces a congested fixture list in the coming weeks, compounded by potential absences of several key players due to international duty, including the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Balancing injuries, player rotations, and high-stakes fixtures presents a complex challenge for Amorim and his coaching staff. The manager is focused on maintaining squad depth and ensuring players are fit and ready for critical matches.

Sesko’s Knee Injury Not Considered Severe

Benjamin Sesko sustained the injury during Manchester United’s 2–2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur. The forward was seen limping off the pitch, which initially sparked fears of a serious knee problem.

Following the match, Sesko chose to remain at Carrington instead of joining the Slovenian national team, allowing United’s medical team to monitor his condition closely on a day-to-day basis.

“He will be out for a few weeks, I don’t know the exact duration, but the injury is not too serious,” Amorim confirmed.

“We must be careful with him. He is undergoing recovery and improving every day. I hope to have Ben back with us in a few weeks,” added the Portuguese coach.

Monitoring Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo

During the latest training session at Carrington, Sesko was not the only player absent. Veteran defender Harry Maguire and young talent Kobbie Mainoo also missed training.

Maguire is confirmed to miss the upcoming match against Everton, forcing Amorim to reorganize the defensive line. Meanwhile, Mainoo’s condition is considered more optimistic, with the coaching staff expecting him to be available soon.

“Maguire is not ready yet,” Amorim said.

“Kobbie didn’t train today, but we might see him in tomorrow’s session. We’ll assess his condition then.”

Lisandro Martinez Nearing Full Match Fitness

On a more positive note, Lisandro Martinez is reportedly close to returning to Manchester United’s lineup. The Argentine defender has been sidelined for an extended period due to injury but participated in Argentina’s international training camp during the recent break.

His involvement at the national team camp signals that his fitness is improving steadily, and he is approaching match readiness.

“He is getting closer to being ready to play,” Amorim explained.

“Of course, we need to be cautious as he may struggle during the initial minutes on the pitch, but he is in a much better position than two weeks ago,” Amorim added.

Looking Ahead

Manchester United now faces a critical period where squad management is key. With Sesko’s temporary absence, Maguire sidelined, and Martinez nearing a comeback, Ruben Amorim must carefully plan rotations to maintain competitiveness in both Premier League and upcoming cup fixtures.

Fans will be closely monitoring Sesko’s recovery, as his return could significantly bolster Manchester United’s attacking options during the busy schedule ahead.
