Arsenal Extend Their Dominance: 80% of Premier League Wins Earned Without Conceding This Season

Arsenal continue to showcase remarkable resilience this season, particularly in their ability to keep opponents from finding the back of the net. Their defensive structure—not just their attacking brilliance—has become one of the strongest defining traits of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

The Gunners secured a 2–0 victory over Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday (4 December 2025, early WIB). The result further solidified Arsenal’s status as the most defensively solid team in the Premier League this season.

Out of their ten league victories so far, 80% have been achieved without conceding a single goal—a club-record ratio for clean-sheet wins in a single Premier League campaign. This statistic highlights not only Arsenal’s scoring efficiency but also the growth, maturity, and discipline of Arteta’s defensive system.

Emirates Fortress: Arsenal’s Home Record Strengthens Their Title Charge

Arsenal’s performances at home have been nothing short of dominant. Across all competitions this season, their record at the Emirates stands at:

  • 10 wins, 1 draw

  • 29 goals scored

  • Only 3 goals conceded

  • 8 clean sheets

These numbers underline just how difficult it has become for visiting teams to break through Arsenal’s structure, especially on their own turf.

The victory over Brentford also marked Arsenal’s first clean sheet since 4 November, when they faced Slavia Praha. During the weeks that followed, Arsenal conceded five goals—a rare dip in their defensive consistency based on their early-season form.

Yet the shutout against Brentford shows that Arsenal are determined to rebuild their defensive momentum and return to the level that saw them break clean-sheet records earlier in the campaign.

Arteta’s Honest Assessment: Areas for Improvement Remain

Mikel Arteta acknowledged that the dip in clean sheets over recent matches has been a point of discussion internally.

“There were around four matches where we couldn’t keep a clean sheet for different reasons,”
Arteta admitted.

He pointed out key moments where lapses cost them:

  • Set-piece goals conceded against Chelsea and Sunderland

  • Other matches influenced heavily by situational context and tactical adjustments

Despite these setbacks, Arteta remains encouraged by his team’s progress and remains committed to refining their defensive organization.

David Raya Earns Major Credit for Arsenal’s Clean Sheet Return

While the defensive unit deserves praise, Arteta singled out David Raya for his crucial contribution in securing the clean sheet against Brentford. One moment in particular stood out.

“Today, we would have conceded if not for David and his save,”
Arteta said.
“Apart from that moment, we didn’t allow many chances.”

In the second half, Raya produced a spectacular fingertip save, pushing a powerful header onto the crossbar. The effort left Arteta momentarily convinced the ball was destined for the net.

“I thought it was going in—they are so dangerous in those situations,”
he recalled.
“It turned into another big moment for us.”

Raya’s intervention became a turning point in the match and reaffirmed his importance to Arsenal, especially during a period where maintaining defensive confidence is crucial.

Arsenal Aim to Continue Their Defensive Momentum

The clean sheet against Brentford marked a significant step in Arsenal’s push to reclaim their defensive dominance. After four consecutive matches without shutting out opponents, the Gunners are now focused on rebuilding the stability that defined their early-season success.

With a strong record, impressive statistics, and renewed confidence, Arsenal’s defense remains one of the Premier League’s most formidable forces as they continue their pursuit of the title.
