AC Milan have reactivated their winter transfer plans for 2026, with a clear focus on strengthening their attacking line. The Rossoneri are in urgent need of a new striker to bolster their options in the second half of the season, and the club has moved swiftly to secure a proven forward.

Among the top targets, Niclas Fullkrug has emerged as the leading candidate. The German striker is seen as a perfect fit for Massimiliano Allegri’s tactical system, bringing the qualities of a traditional target man capable of anchoring Milan’s frontline.

Intense Negotiations Bring Fullkrug Closer to Milan

Negotiations between AC Milan and Fullkrug’s current club, West Ham United, have intensified over the past few days. Reports indicate that the striker is now just one step away from officially joining the Rossoneri.

The two clubs have reportedly reached an agreement on a loan deal, with Fullkrug set to arrive in Milan for the winter window. Initial discussions included a permanent purchase option valued between €11 million and €13 million at the end of the season.

However, the latest updates from Sky Sport Italia suggest a more financially favorable arrangement. The option to buy Fullkrug is now estimated at around €5 million, with the loan being completed without a fee, reducing financial risk for AC Milan. This structure allows the club to assess Fullkrug’s performance before committing to a permanent transfer, providing flexibility in the squad strategy.

Fullkrug Arrives in Milan for Medicals

Niclas Fullkrug has already arrived in Milan to finalize the final steps of his transfer. He is scheduled to undergo his medical examination on Tuesday, 23 December, with the aim of completing the formalities swiftly.

If all goes smoothly, Fullkrug will be officially registered as a Milan player at the start of January, when the Italian winter transfer window opens on 2 January 2026.

The German international is expected to join his new teammates for his first training session on Wednesday evening, coinciding with Christmas Eve, under the guidance of Allegri.

Immediate Impact and Squad Registration

AC Milan are keen to register Fullkrug in time to feature in their opening matches of the new year, with Cagliari on 2 January as the target debut. According to league rules, he can be included in the squad as long as all transfer paperwork is processed before 3:00 PM local time.

With his experience and aerial prowess, Fullkrug is expected to add depth and tactical options to Milan’s frontline, complementing existing forwards and helping Allegri maintain a competitive edge during the crucial second half of the Serie A season.

This signing represents a strategic move by AC Milan to strengthen their attack while minimizing financial exposure, and it positions the Rossoneri to remain competitive both domestically and in European competitions. Fans can now anticipate Fullkrug making an immediate impact in red and black as Milan push for a strong finish to the 2025/26 campaign.
