Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has praised his team’s resilience following their dramatic comeback victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. The defender believes the win highlights the Red Devils’ exceptional mentality and fighting spirit.

The match, part of Week 23 of the 2025/26 Premier League, saw Manchester United initially struggle as Arsenal took the lead through a goal by Jurrien Timber. Despite the early setback, MU quickly responded, with Bryan Mbeumo leveling the score before halftime.

The second half began spectacularly for Manchester United, as Patrick Dorgu unleashed a brilliant strike to put the visitors ahead. Arsenal fought back, with Mikel Merino equalizing to make it 2-2, but Matheus Cunha later sealed the win for United, securing all three points in a thrilling encounter.

Not an Easy Match

Speaking to Sky Sports, Maguire acknowledged the challenge of winning at Arsenal, especially after falling behind early in the game.

“Before the match started, we knew it was going to be a tough game. We were facing the league leaders who have been outstanding all season,” Maguire explained.

“Many doubted us going into this fixture, but we showed incredible character by scoring the winning goal in the final stages of the match.”

Maguire emphasized that coming from behind at the Emirates is never easy, particularly against a side of Arsenal’s quality.

Demonstrating Champion Mentality

The defender added that Manchester United never gave up, even when trailing, and continuously fought to find the winning goal. Their persistence ultimately paid off, highlighting the squad’s resilience and winning mentality.

“Securing a victory after being behind demonstrates the character of this team. We delivered an outstanding performance,” Maguire said.

This mentality, he explained, is key for competing at the top of the Premier League and achieving consistent results against the league’s strongest sides.

Into the Top Four

Thanks to this crucial win, Manchester United now move into fourth place in the 2025/26 Premier League standings, overtaking Liverpool, who were defeated by Bournemouth over the weekend.

The victory not only strengthens United’s position in the top four but also reinforces their belief that they can challenge for higher honors in the title race.
