European transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Wilfred Ndidi from Besiktas this January.
It is no secret that Manchester United are actively looking for a new defensive midfielder. The urgency comes after reports that their current midfielder, Manuel Ugarte, may leave the club during this winter transfer window.
The need for a strong presence in midfield has grown even more following the announcement that Casemiro will depart Old Trafford at the end of the season. As a result, the club’s management has reportedly begun scouting for a long-term replacement to anchor their central midfield.
Ndidi Offered to Manchester United
According to Romano, Besiktas have offered Wilfred Ndidi to Manchester United as a potential addition in this transfer window.
Ndidi joined the Turkish side last summer and has been a key figure for The Black Eagles in midfield. However, sources suggest that the midfielder has struggled to settle in Turkey and is reportedly eager to return to England.
It is understood that Ndidi’s agent approached Manchester United to gauge interest in a winter move, seeing the Red Devils as a potential destination.
Manchester United Yet to Decide
Romano emphasizes that Manchester United have not yet made a decision regarding Ndidi’s proposed transfer.
The club is reportedly consulting closely with Michael Carrick and other members of the technical team to plan their winter transfer strategy. For now, no formal offer has been made to Besiktas or to Ndidi himself.
Potential Transfer Fee and Contract Situation
Ndidi is currently under contract with Besiktas until 2028. Reports indicate that Manchester United could secure his services for a fee of approximately €10 million, a relatively modest sum given his experience and profile.
Should the deal materialize, Ndidi would bring Premier League experience, defensive solidity, and leadership to United’s midfield, addressing a key area of concern for the club this season.
Why Ndidi Could Be the Key Signing
Adding Ndidi would not only provide defensive cover after Casemiro’s impending departure, but also help United maintain control in the middle of the park. His ability to break up opposition attacks and distribute the ball efficiently could make him a vital asset for Erik ten Hag’s squad as they aim to compete at the highest level both domestically and in Europe.
With the January transfer deadline approaching, all eyes will be on Old Trafford to see if Manchester United move decisively to bring Ndidi back to the Premier League.
