Any deep and exhaustive look into the world of professional football will have you quickly register the fact that playing on such a level isn’t something that just anyone can successfully pull off. For this reason, the few who manage to distinguish themselves in this arena are so highly celebrated. At the top of the order is the Australian professional Center Forward, David Joel Williams. Compared repeatedly to the Australian legend, Harry Kewell, this is one player who gives nothing short of the very best every time he puts his jersey on. Now playing for one of the top teams in the Indian Super League, ATK Mohun Bagan FC, he remains a true delight to behold on the pitch.

David Joel Williams Origin Story

Born in Brisbane, Australia, on the 26th of February, 1988, this incredible player had a reasonably unconventional start to his career. Even as a child, the level of talent was apparent, so he was always one of the top picks for the Westside and Pine amateur kids’ clubs. He groomed his skills well here and used what he had learned to comfortably secure a spot for himself on the youth team of Mitchelton FC. As an attendee of the Northside Christian College, he also doubled as a player for the Queensland Academy of Sport (CAS) squad and was well-known for his commitment to the game. Appearing in the training clubs of various eminent teams like Club Brugge and Liverpool FC, he officially entered the A-League side for his team, the Queensland Roar, towards the end of the 2005-06 league season. By this time, his talent had started to come into full bloom. Several people like Miron Bleiberg, the Queensland Roar Coach, and Ron Smith, the former technical director of the Australian national team, were quick to spot this potential.

Track Record With Previous Clubs

A few pundits opine that the football career of this star player truly began when he joined Brondby IF in 2006. Upon signing a three-year contract with the team, he proved his mettle time and time again until he suffered an injury in September of ’08. Not long after, he left the club for Bidvest Wits and joined North Queensland the following year. He joined Sydney FC on loan on the 16th of February 2011 and worked his hardest for the club. However, they couldn’t place above third in their group. He moved to Melbourne City FC and from there on to Haladas, the Hungarian Club, in 2016. Finally, he joined Wellington Phoenix in the A-League on the 23rd of July 2018 before coming to ATK FC, which would later become ATK Mohun Bagan on the 28th of June 2019.

Presence And Performance At ATK Mohun Bagan FC

Even before signing a new contract with ATK Mohun Bagan, David Joel Williams showed that he was a right fit for the Indian Super League by bagging the ISL Hero of the Month Award in October of 2019, barely six months into his playing in the league. He beat out household names like Bartholomew Ogbeche and Ferran Corominas to claim this highly coveted award. Playing under ATK Mohun Bagan, the new club formed by ATK and Mohun Bagan, his performance has continued to improve. With a conversion rate that few Center Forwards can boast of, David Joel Williams is undoubtedly out to make history here.
