It isn’t often you see players set themselves apart in every single competition that they play. Typically, it would seem that the rule is that you excel in one and do average at best in the other. However, Roy Krishna proves this to be untrue. Born on the 30th of August, 1987, in Labasa, Macuata, Fiji, New Zealand, the current ATK Mohun Bagan striker virtually seems to dominate every league and tournament that he finds himself in.

Winning The Johnny Warren Medal And The Golden Boot

Only a few football fans might be very familiar with the exploits and achievements before joining Atletico de Kolkata in the Indian Super League. Before joining ATK FC in their quest for glory and victory in the Indian Super League, he was the striker of Wellington Phoenix, a prominent club in the A-League. It is safe to say that they miss him because he didn’t just make his impact felt; he made it count as well. He was distinguished because of his playing style and consistency. So at the end of the 2018-19 football season, he was awarded double accolades in the form of the Golden Boot and the Johnny Warren Medal, both highly prestigious symbols of recognition of excellence in Australian Football. He would also play with fellow Center Forward David Joel Williams before the duo reunited at ATK Mohun Bagan. Playing in the A-league is one thing; thriving in that highly competitive competition is quite another. This talented player showed that he had what it took to excel in such tight spots, again and again, making him the perfect Indian Super League material.

Roy Krishna Performance On The Fiji National Team

Before he came to the cap at ATKMB, Roy took leadership responsibility for teams that he played on for a long time. Serving as the caption of the Fiji National team, no one doubts that he has done quite well and delivered superb results. Before being given the honor of leading his country’s team onto the pitch, Roy Krishna had to show he had what it took to even be on the team in the first place. When he first appeared for Fiji in 2007, he played seven matches but only found the net once. He played three matches the next year and scored two goals. He made 7 appearances in 2011, 3 in 2012, 1 in 2015, 4 in 2016, 5 in 2017, and 3 in 2018 scoring 5 goals, nil, 1, 4, 1, and 2 goals respectively.

He made his most recent appearance for Fiji in 2019, playing five matches to score five goals. Roy Krishna is glorious on the pitch, and every major force in ISL recognizes that. Saluted by the likes of Bhaichang Bhutia and Shyam Thapa, this Fijian is a solid force to reckon with.

Roy Krishna Form In ATK Mohun Bagan

Crucial to helping ATK Mohun Bagan win the league in his first year and helping them place second on the tables in his second, critics have to admit that this player is doing a fantastic job so far. Scoring 15 goals in 21 games in the 2019-20 ISL season and backing that up with 13 goals in 17 games in the 2020-21 season, he is one resource that ATKMB is happy to possess.
