Manchester United have reportedly suffered a setback in their search for a new left-back, with Newcastle United unwilling to consider offers for Lewis Hall during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have been exploring several options to strengthen the left side of their defence as they look to plan for the future beyond Luke Shaw. With Shaw entering the final year of his current Manchester United contract, the club are believed to be searching for a younger player who can eventually take over the position.
Lewis Hall has emerged as one of United’s preferred targets. The 21-year-old defender has impressed with his technical ability, versatility and potential, making him an attractive long-term option for the Old Trafford side.
However, according to The Athletic, Newcastle have made their position clear: Hall is not available for transfer this summer.
Newcastle Determined to Keep Lewis Hall
Newcastle’s decision is largely influenced by the number of important players they have already lost during the current transfer window.
The Magpies have seen key members of their squad depart, including Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali. The club are also expected to lose Bruno Guimaraes, who is reportedly on the verge of completing a move to Arsenal.

Newcastle’s firm stance has also been reinforced by their reported valuation of Hall.
The Magpies are believed to value the defender at around £60 million, a figure that could prove difficult for Manchester United to justify.
The asking price appears to be another way for Newcastle to discourage potential buyers. While Hall remains an attractive target for United, the club are reportedly reluctant to invest such a significant amount in the position.
Manchester United therefore appear to be reassessing their plans rather than meeting Newcastle’s demands.
The situation represents a significant obstacle for United, particularly because Hall was viewed as one of the more promising candidates to eventually succeed Luke Shaw.
Manchester United Look at Alternative Targets
With Newcastle refusing to negotiate over Hall, Manchester United are expected to explore other options before the transfer window closes.
One name reportedly being considered is Antonee Robinson of Fulham.
The United States international has established himself as one of the Premier League’s reliable attacking full-backs and could offer the pace, defensive work rate and attacking quality that Manchester United are looking for.
Robinson is also believed to be considerably more affordable than Hall, with a potential transfer expected to cost around £30 million to £40 million.
That price range could make the Fulham defender a more realistic option for United as they continue their search for a long-term solution at left-back.

Manchester United now have an important decision to make as the summer transfer window approaches its final stages.
Lewis Hall remains an attractive profile for the club due to his age and potential, but Newcastle’s refusal to sell and £60 million valuation have complicated the situation.
