Fresh information has emerged regarding Rafael Leao’s future at AC Milan, with the Portuguese winger reportedly facing a major decision ahead of the 2026/2027 season.

According to European transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Leao has attracted interest from several clubs and could potentially continue his career in the Saudi Pro League next season.

Leao’s future has been a subject of intense speculation for several months. Since the previous summer transfer window, reports have repeatedly suggested that the winger could leave San Siro in search of a new challenge.

The player has also reportedly made it clear that he is open to experiencing something different during the 2026/2027 campaign.

AC Milan appear to have prepared for the possibility of losing their Portuguese star. The Rossoneri recently brought in Diego Moreira from Strasbourg, with the winger reportedly viewed as one of the potential replacements for Leao should he eventually leave the club.

With the summer transfer window still open, several clubs are monitoring Leao’s situation. Among them are teams from Saudi Arabia, who are reportedly ready to make a serious financial commitment to secure his signature.

Saudi Clubs Make Contact Over Rafael Leao

According to Romano, Rafael Leao has received approaches from clubs competing in the Saudi Pro League.

Representatives from Saudi clubs are reportedly already in contact with the player’s camp as they explore the possibility of bringing the Portuguese international to the Middle East.

Their interest appears to be serious rather than merely exploratory. Saudi clubs are reportedly prepared to offer Leao an extremely attractive salary package in an attempt to convince him to leave European football.

In addition to offering the player significant financial terms, the interested clubs are also believed to be willing to meet AC Milan’s asking price.

That combination could make a move to Saudi Arabia financially appealing for both the player and the Italian club.

However, there is still one major obstacle standing in the way of a potential transfer: Leao himself is not currently prioritizing a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Leao Still Prioritizes European Football

Despite the lucrative offers that could be available in Saudi Arabia, Leao is reportedly more interested in continuing his career at the highest level of European football.

The Portuguese winger believes he still has plenty of years ahead of him at the elite level and does not feel that his time in European football has come to an end.

Leao reportedly wants to continue competing against the best players in the world and believes he can still improve significantly as a footballer.

For that reason, the forward has instructed his representatives to prioritize potential opportunities from clubs in Europe.

His preference is reportedly to find a new challenge within Europe’s top competitions before considering a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Only if his search for a suitable European club fails to produce a satisfactory opportunity would Leao reportedly be willing to seriously consider offers from Saudi Arabia.

This means that, despite strong interest and the possibility of a major financial package, a move to the Middle East is not currently his preferred option.

AC Milan Ready to Sell Leao

While Leao may still prefer to remain in Europe, AC Milan appear prepared to consider his departure.

The Rossoneri have reportedly already established a valuation for their star winger and are willing to negotiate his transfer if an interested club meets their financial expectations.

AC Milan are believed to be demanding at least €50 million for the Portugal international during the current summer transfer window.

That asking price could attract serious interest from wealthy clubs, particularly those in the Saudi Pro League who have the financial resources to complete major transfers.

The arrival of Diego Moreira also gives AC Milan additional flexibility when considering Leao’s future. The club would have another option on the wing should the Portuguese star leave San Siro.

Nevertheless, losing Leao would still represent a significant change for the Rossoneri. His pace, dribbling ability, creativity and attacking threat have made him one of the most recognizable players in the AC Milan squad.

A Major Decision Ahead for Leao

The coming weeks could therefore prove decisive for Rafael Leao.

On one side, Saudi Pro League clubs can potentially offer him a highly lucrative contract and are reportedly prepared to satisfy AC Milan’s transfer demands.

On the other hand, Leao still wants to compete at the highest level in Europe and is not yet convinced that moving to Saudi Arabia would be the right step for his career.

The winger’s priority remains finding a European club capable of offering him an ambitious sporting project. If that option becomes available, a move away from AC Milan could still happen without Leao having to leave European football.

However, if no suitable European destination emerges before the transfer window closes, the Saudi Pro League could become a realistic alternative.

For now, Rafael Leao’s future remains uncertain. AC Milan are open to selling him for a fee of at least €50 million, while Saudi clubs are ready to make a major push for his signature. The final decision, however, could ultimately depend on whether Leao receives an offer from a European club that matches his ambitions.
