Malaysian shuttler Loo Bing Kun is hoping to finally find stability in his mixed doubles career after a series of short-lived partnerships. The 23-year-old national player is set to team up with Go Pei Kee, marking a new chapter in his quest for consistency and synergy on the court.

This new partnership will debut at the Macau Open 2025, scheduled to take place from July 29 to August 3, where Bing Kun and Pei Kee will represent Malaysia in the mixed doubles category.

A History of Changes, A Hope for Consistency

Over the past few years, Bing Kun has struggled to lock in a permanent partner, often rotating through pairings in search of chemistry. His most recent stint was a brief but encouraging run with seasoned player Toh Ee Wei, where the duo reached the quarter-finals of the Taiwan Open and made it to the second round of the Malaysian Masters. Despite the short duration, the pairing highlighted Bing Kun’s potential at the international level.

Now, with the pairing with Go Pei Kee confirmed, Bing Kun hopes to finally establish a long-term partnership—one that can grow with time and deliver consistent performances.

“The coaches told me this week that I will be partnering with Pei Kee, and we’ve already started training together,” said Bing Kun after a session at the Academy Badminton Malaysia (ABM) in Bukit Kiara.

“I really hope this is a long-term setup. I’ve changed partners many times before. The longest I stayed with a partner was about a year with Ho Lo Ee. In doubles, it takes time to build chemistry. A steady partnership makes all the difference.”

Go Pei Kee’s Dual Responsibility

Interestingly, Go Pei Kee, also 23, will have her hands full. She will be competing in both women’s doubles and mixed doubles, continuing her partnership with Teoh Mei Xing in the former. This dual role requires exceptional stamina, but Bing Kun is confident in Pei Kee’s physical readiness.

“Playing two events won’t be a problem for her. She’s fit and strong enough to handle the load,” he said.

However, Bing Kun is aware that transitioning Pei Kee back into mixed doubles will require some adaptation.

“For the past six months, she’s been fully focused on women’s doubles and has mostly played from the back court. In mixed doubles, I’ll need to help her regain her rhythm, especially with more action at the front of the court,” he added.

Lessons from a Senior Partner

Reflecting on his recent experience with Toh Ee Wei, Bing Kun believes those matches were valuable learning moments. He aims to apply those insights as he builds his new partnership with Pei Kee.

“Teaming up with Ee Wei was a turning point for me. She’s very experienced, and I learned so much during that short stint. I’ll use everything I’ve learned to help strengthen this new partnership,” said Bing Kun.

Eyes on Growth, Not Just Results

While results will naturally be a part of the equation, Bing Kun’s primary focus is on developing chemistry and building mutual understanding on court. In the fast-paced world of professional badminton, especially in doubles disciplines, consistency in partnerships can significantly impact a player’s growth and performance.

The pairing of Bing Kun and Pei Kee may still be in its infancy, but with shared determination, support from coaches, and mutual commitment, they have the potential to become one of Malaysia’s rising mixed doubles duos.

Macau Open Marks New Beginning for Bing Kun and Pei Kee

With the Macau Open 2025 serving as their launching pad, all eyes will be on Loo Bing Kun and Go Pei Kee as they begin this new journey. If the two can find their rhythm and develop trust on court, this could mark the beginning of a long and successful collaboration—something Bing Kun has been seeking for a long time.
