Adrien Rabiot has expressed his admiration for Luka Modric’s remarkable performance in AC Milan’s 2-1 victory over Napoli at the San Siro. The French midfielder admitted he was stunned to see the Croatian legend, now 40 years old, still capable of running tirelessly and dictating play for the full 90 minutes.

“Playing alongside Luka is so easy because he dictates the tempo of the game,” Rabiot told DAZN Italia. “But honestly, I don’t understand how he can still run like that for the entire match at his age.”

Modric: The Heart of Milan’s Midfield

Since joining Milan, Modric has proven to be an invaluable figure at the heart of their midfield. His vision, composure, and ability to read the game have been crucial, especially in high-pressure situations. Against Napoli, his leadership shone even brighter after the Rossoneri were reduced to ten men following Pervis Estupiñán’s red card.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Modric orchestrated Milan’s play with intelligence and calmness, helping the team maintain balance until the final whistle. His display once again highlighted why he remains one of football’s timeless icons.

Milan Triumph Despite Setback

Milan got off to a dream start when Alexis Saelemaekers found the net in the third minute, assisted by Christian Pulisic. The American winger later doubled the lead with a clinical strike, underlining his growing influence in Serie A.

Napoli tried to mount a comeback and managed to reduce the deficit through a Kevin De Bruyne penalty. In the second half, the reigning champions pushed hard, but Milan’s resilience held firm. Their biggest scare came deep in stoppage time when David Neres rattled the crossbar, but Stefano Pioli’s men clung on for three massive points.

“We showed incredible mentality and spirit,” Rabiot said. “Even in a difficult situation, we managed to secure a crucial victory.”

Rabiot’s Instant Impact in Milan

Rabiot’s late move from Olympique Marseille at the end of the transfer window has already made a huge difference. Since his arrival, Milan have recorded four consecutive wins, conceding just one goal in that period.

“The adaptation was quick because I already knew the coach and some of the players,” Rabiot explained. “I came here with humility and a strong work ethic, determined to be an example for the squad.”

The midfielder also praised the positive atmosphere currently surrounding the Rossoneri camp, pointing to unity and fighting spirit as the foundation of their recent success.

Emotional Test Ahead

Next week will be particularly special for Rabiot as Milan travel to the Allianz Stadium to face Juventus, his former club. It will be his first meeting with the Bianconeri since leaving last summer, adding extra emotional weight to what is already a blockbuster Serie A clash.

For now, though, Milan fans will continue to marvel at Luka Modric’s seemingly ageless brilliance and Rabiot’s seamless integration into the squad—two key factors driving their push to the top of Serie A this season.
