Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens has spoken out after receiving high praise from the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. The young shot-stopper admitted he was stunned when he heard the compliment and said the moment felt surreal.
Over the past few weeks, Lammens has become one of the most talked-about figures among Manchester United supporters. After successfully overtaking Altay Bayındır as United’s first-choice goalkeeper, the Belgian has delivered a series of impressive performances and become a key figure in Erik ten Hag’s squad.
His consistency and composure in goal have not only earned him admiration from fans, but also caught the attention of Sir Alex Ferguson, the most successful manager in Manchester United’s history. The iconic boss publicly revealed that Lammens’ performances had impressed him this season.
When the news reached him, Lammens admitted he felt a mix of disbelief and excitement.
“Honestly, I couldn’t believe it at first,” Lammens told MUTV. “To hear that Sir Alex complimented me… it felt unreal.”
A Special Moment for Lammens
For Lammens, receiving praise from someone like Sir Alex Ferguson is more than just a compliment—it is a career-defining moment.
He highlighted how Ferguson had worked with some of the greatest goalkeepers ever to play for Manchester United, including Peter Schmeichel, Edwin van der Sar, and David De Gea. To be acknowledged by someone with such a legacy means the world to him.
“It honestly made me feel like I was flying,” Lammens said.
“When a figure as experienced and influential as Sir Alex says something good about you, it hits differently. It made me incredibly happy.”
Hoping to Meet Sir Alex in Person
Despite joining Manchester United earlier, Lammens revealed that he has never actually met Sir Alex Ferguson in person.
Now that he knows the legendary manager has been paying attention to his performances, the Belgian goalkeeper hopes he will soon get the chance to thank him directly.
“Sir Alex is a massive figure at this club,” Lammens said.
“I haven’t met him yet, but after hearing what he said, I can’t wait for the opportunity to meet him and thank him.”
Focused on the Next Challenge
At the moment, Lammens is fully focused on preparing for Manchester United’s upcoming match. He is expected to start when the Red Devils travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace this weekend.
The match carries high stakes for Manchester United, who are eager to bounce back after suffering a disappointing 1–0 defeat to Everton earlier in the week. A victory is crucial as they look to recover momentum in the Premier League.
