Photos circulating on social media have gone viral, showing French defender Layvin Kurzawa arriving in Indonesia. The 33-year-old is set to join Persib Bandung, one of the top clubs in the BRI Super League 2025/26.

Images show Kurzawa at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, from where he will continue his journey to Bandung to complete his move.

Rumors about Kurzawa’s potential transfer to Persib had been circulating for several days. French media outlet Foot Mercato was among the first to report the news.

Kurzawa is expected to become Persib’s 11th foreign player, replacing Brazilian midfielder Wiliam Marcilio, who left the club before the end of the first round of the league.

Kurzawa’s Profile and European Career

According to Foot Mercato, Kurzawa has agreed to a short-term contract with Persib, covering the remainder of the season. The former France national team and PSG defender will therefore join the Bandung-based club on a temporary deal.

Kurzawa boasts an impressive career across Europe. In addition to representing France and Paris Saint-Germain, he has also played for AS Monaco, Fulham, and most recently Boavista in Portugal.

The defender, who has earned 13 caps for France, last appeared for Boavista in the Primeira Liga from February to June 2025. During that period, he featured in only four matches, totaling 170 minutes, and received two yellow cards.

Since July 2025, Kurzawa has been a free agent, meaning he has spent approximately seven months without competitive football, focusing solely on training.

Confirmation from Persib Management

Persib’s manager, Umuh Muchtar, has officially confirmed that Kurzawa will join the team. He also announced that Italian defender Federico Barba will remain with the club for the rest of the season.

“Yes, that’s correct, both are true,” Umuh told Bola.net on Wednesday, January 21, confirming Kurzawa’s arrival and Barba’s retention at Persib.

With Kurzawa’s signing, Persib aims to strengthen their defense and bolster their campaign in the BRI Super League 2025/26, as they seek to compete for the top positions and enhance their squad depth.
