Benjamin Sesko has openly credited one person for helping him adapt quickly to life at Manchester United. That person is none other than Diogo Dalot, whose guidance has been pivotal for the young Slovenian striker.

The 22-year-old forward expressed his gratitude toward Dalot for providing support both on and off the pitch since his arrival at Old Trafford.

A High-Profile Move to Manchester United

Sesko joined Manchester United in August 2025 for a transfer fee of £66.4 million, with an additional £7.3 million in potential bonuses. His transfer immediately generated excitement, as he had been the top scorer among under-23 players across Europe’s top five leagues over the previous two seasons. Despite his prolific record, his start at United was slower than expected.

It took Sesko until October 2025 to score his first goal for the Red Devils. However, he has since found remarkable form, netting five goals in his last six appearances. Among these were a last-minute winner against Fulham and a crucial equalizer during injury time against West Ham.

His goal at London Stadium not only secured a valuable point for United but also extended Michael Carrick’s unbeaten streak since taking over as interim manager.

“It only hit me five minutes later. In the moment, I didn’t realize it because everything happened so fast, but I was incredibly happy that it happened,” Sesko said, reflecting on his dramatic goal, according to Manchester Evening News on February 13, 2026.

“It was a difficult finish. If my foot had been slightly off, the ball could have gone elsewhere. It’s about timing and executing everything at the right moment,” he added.

Dalot’s Role from the Start

In an interview with Manchester United’s internal media, Sesko revealed how crucial Dalot’s support was for his early adaptation to English football.

Diogo Dalot has really helped me from the very beginning,” Sesko stated.

“He tries to assist me in everything because this is a completely different environment. I’m very thankful for his help. We work together every day, doing everything we can to improve.”

Sesko described his first months at United as an emotional but exciting experience. “It’s incredible, a new world for me. There are many emotions, of course, but it’s all fun and engaging. I really enjoy it. Even if I have a day off, I still wake up at 7:00 AM because maintaining a routine is important,” he explained.

The young forward makes a point of enjoying every day fully. His daily routine includes drinking coffee, meditating, gym sessions, and staying active. “I’ve been doing this for years, and it has become part of my daily life,” he said. “Then I focus on recovery and training if possible. I like to keep moving, play basketball, read books, and relax on the sofa — all of these are very important,” added the 22-year-old.

Introducing Himself Through Goals

When it comes to connecting with fans, Sesko believes that scoring goals is the best way to introduce himself to Manchester United supporters.

“The best way to introduce yourself is by scoring goals. Without fans, football cannot exist. When they are behind you, it gives you extra energy and motivation,” Sesko said.

“Scoring your first goal at home is incredible. Everyone cheers for you. It’s unbelievable. As I often say, the way we play together, the camaraderie, the off-field celebrations, all of it — it’s all for winning matches.”

A Longtime United Interest

Interestingly, Manchester United had shown interest in signing Sesko as early as the summer of 2022. His agent even visited Carrington to explore possibilities. However, the Slovenian forward initially chose to join RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg before making the move to Old Trafford three years later.

Since joining United, Sesko has steadily proven his value. With Dalot’s mentorship and his own determination, the young striker appears poised to make a significant impact in the Premier League. His ability to adapt quickly and deliver crucial goals underlines why he is considered one of the most promising talents in European football.

As Manchester United look to strengthen their attacking options and maintain competitiveness under Michael Carrick, Sesko’s emergence offers both hope and excitement for fans. With every goal, assist, and performance, he is gradually carving out his place at Old Trafford and demonstrating that the future of the club may very well rest in the hands of this talented young Slovenian.
