Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has encouraged Myles Lewis-Skelly to remain at the Emirates Stadium despite growing speculation linking the talented youngster with a move to Manchester United during the 2026 summer transfer window.
Wilshere believes the highly-rated defender still has a bright future under Arsenal’s project and insists leaving the club now would be the wrong decision, even if first-team opportunities have become more limited.

“Last season was fascinating because I don’t think Myles had ever really faced a situation like this before,” Wilshere explained.
“Throughout his time in the academy, both he and Ethan Nwaneri were usually the standout players in every age group.”
Wilshere praised Arsenal’s youth system for carefully managing Lewis-Skelly’s progression over the years and believes the current challenge will ultimately make him a stronger player.
“The academy has always given him the right challenges at the right moments. Now he’s dealing with a tougher period, and I’ve been really impressed with the way he’s handled it.”

Wilshere also highlighted Lewis-Skelly’s mentality, insisting that his attitude has remained exemplary despite spending more time on the bench.
According to the former Arsenal midfielder, the teenager’s professionalism and commitment prove that he possesses the mentality required to succeed at the highest level.
“Forget about his football ability for a moment. What I admire most about Myles is his personality and character,” Wilshere continued.
“Whenever the television cameras showed him on the bench, he was constantly supporting his teammates. He wants the best for the team, and that says everything about the type of person he is.”
Wilshere believes Lewis-Skelly showed encouraging signs toward the end of last season, particularly after earning opportunities in important matches.
He is convinced the youngster has what it takes to establish himself in Arsenal’s first team if he continues working hard.
“Eventually he found his way back, even playing in the Champions League final, which I believe is his best position. I’d love to see him stay, fight for his place, and prove himself because I genuinely think he’s talented enough to succeed at Arsenal.”

Despite increasing interest from Manchester United, recent reports indicate that Arsenal have no intention of allowing Lewis-Skelly to leave this summer.
