While quite a lot of things are in content at the moment, no one will dispute the fact that Hungary has found a genuinely exceptional midfielder in the person of Dominik Szoboszlai. Popularly called Dom Szoboszlai, this 20-year old has already represented the country both at the youth and senior levels, producing genuinely commendable results at each turn.

Dominik Szoboszlai Brief Career History
The Székesfehérvár-born player initially rose through the youth system. He made his official professional debut with the Red Bull Salzburg, presenting the reserve team for the successful Austrian club, FC Liefering, four years ago. However, it took this player less than a year to climb through the ranks and debut for the parent club he did in January 2018 as a complete starter. The confidence that they had in the teenage player proved to be well worth it as in the space of only three seasons, Dominik Szoboszlai showed himself essential to not just helping them claim two domestic cups but also three league titles. In what would be a transfer that would be remembered for decades to come, this midfielder left FC Liefering for Germany’s RB Leipzig six months ago for €20 million. Through this process broke a record to become the most expensive Hungarian player ever!
Dominik Szoboszlai Record At RB Leipzig
The final deal that moved this player from his old club into the RB Leipzig squad was announced on the 17th of December 2020. The four-and-a-half-year agreement with the new club was expected to make him play from January 2021 until June 2025, at which he would sign another deal or move on to another club. As was earlier mentioned, RB Leipzig parted with a reported sum of €20 million to secure the services of this player. But, sadly, things haven’t gone quite according to plan as the player is yet to play for his new club, thanks in large part to a long-term injury that he sustained.
Dominik Szoboszlai Career Playing For Hungary
Standing in sharp contrast to how young this player is, Dominik Szoboszlai has successfully managed to build a long record of playing for his home country. He first stepped into the international scene in the 2017 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, playing in Croatia. He inscribed his name on the score sheet with two goals and, as captain of the U17 team, led his country to finish in 6th position at the end of the games. He also became the captain of the Hungary U-19 team. He joined the ranks of the senior team in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification against Andorra. Before this, he played in a friendly match against the Russian side. His record for the senior squad has been a desirable one as he has been a significant game-changer in every match he played.
Dominik Szoboszlai Fate In UEFA Euro 2020
Sadly, considering that Hungary has his last-minute winning goal to thank for qualifying for the UEFA Euro 2020, Dominik Szoboszlai won’t join the team to play in the tournament because even now, the player is yet to recover from his injury. Although Hungary has many big names to call on, it is clear that the absence of this player will be keenly felt. Check here to see more UEFA Euro 2020 group F analysis.
