In the world of football, a prudent signing can be what ultimately determines how well (or poorly) a club performs. Some teams sell off certain players and become even better as a result. On the other hand, some squads lose a member, only to crumble and lose their form. Looking at the English Premier League 20/2021 transfer products alone, players like Jesse Lingard, Emiliano Martinez, and Edinson Cavani were crucial pieces that helped their various teams perform as well as they did. In that same light, players like Kai Havertz, Matt Doherty, and Donny van de Beek who so much was expected off, turned out to be significant letdowns in a few ways. With another transfer window open for the new season, no one will argue that the signings that the English Premier League sees will go a long way in shaping how the 21/2022 tournament turns out. Although the transfer window won’t be closing just yet, it is essential to check out which players have made it through and which ones to be hopeful about still. This first edition will be focusing on some of the major clubs in the league, with more details on the remaining clubs to follow shortly.

Arsenal

The Gunners finished 8th on the English Premier League table in the just-concluded season. However, just like everyone else, they know that they could have done a little better. So, this season, they would be looking to make some signings to make that dream come true. In light of this, Mikel Arteta has been shuffling his board pieces around. He’s ready to offload some players to sign new ones in areas that will build the team’s strength. The likes of Thilo Kehrer (defender, PSG) and Matthew Ryan (goalkeeper, Real Sociedad) come in. With these players in his squad, the coach believes he can turn things around.

Chelsea

In the second half of the previous league season, this team was phenomenal, managing to place in fourth against all odds. With Thomas Tuchel pulling strings now, they will be looking to add to their UEFA Champions League victory last season by claiming the English Premier League title as well. To that end, Tuchel considers the striker Federico Chiesa vital. With his fantastic performance in his debut season in Juventus, it’s no surprise he’s at the top of the Blues’ coach list. Signing him could mean big things for Chelsea.

Liverpool

Standing as strong contenders for the coming league title, Liverpool knows that they have to put certain things in place to secure that victory. A step in that direction is the sale of Harry Wilson, who has consistently failed to live up to expectations. To fill his spot, the club is on the hunt for Domenico Berardi. The young Italian had a visible impact in Italy’s victory over England, and they’ll be hoping he brings some of that magic to Anfield.

Manchester City

From all indications, Guardiola’s squad is as complete as can be expected. Yet, the seasoned coach knows that it is essential to prepare for the unexpected and aspire to be better. With his prized Kun Aguero now in Spain, Manchester City has its eyes on Harry Kane. The top striker has been in excellent form, and his style of play will fit just right here. However, it is still to be seen if this deal will work out in the end.

Manchester United

Things haven’t been as they should be with the Red Devils, and everyone knows it. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is constantly tweaking things to make everything work, just as any true leader should. With the transfer window as it is, he believes he has secured an essential piece of the puzzle in the person of Jadon Sancho. Still, he knows his work is not done, so he is earnestly pursuing Raphael Varane. Whether Real Madrid will let him go now that they don’t have Sergio Ramos remains an issue.
