Sheffield United’s Fortunate Break
The game began with Swansea City showing more attacking intent, creating the better chances in the first half. Myles Peart-Harris, on loan from Brentford, came closest for the visitors. His movement and pace troubled the Sheffield United defense early on, and he was presented with a golden opportunity to put his side ahead just before half-time. However, Peart-Harris squandered his chance, misfiring from close range.
Swansea’s inability to capitalize on their early pressure would prove costly. In a moment of misfortune, Swansea’s Josh Tymon inadvertently gave Sheffield United the lead on the stroke of half-time. A cross from the right-wing caused confusion in Swansea’s defense, and Tymon, in an attempt to clear the ball, ended up volleying it into his own net. The goal came completely against the run of play, leaving the visitors feeling hard done by.
Blades Improve After the Break
Despite their somewhat lucky advantage, Sheffield United came out stronger in the second half, looking far more composed and confident. Manager Chris Wilder seemed to have had a positive impact on his side during the interval, as they pushed for a second goal to secure the game.
Andre Brooks, Kieffer Moore, and Tyrese Campbell all had chances to double the Blades‘ lead, but they were unable to find the back of the net.
Although they failed to score a second goal, Sheffield United were in control for much of the second half, reducing Swansea to only a few half-chances.
Swansea Struggle to Recover
Swansea had their moments of promise but lacked the cutting edge needed to break down the Sheffield United defense. After their strong start, the Welsh side seemed to lose their attacking rhythm in the second half, with key players like Liam Cullen and Peart-Harris fading as the match progressed.
In the final stages of the game, Swansea pressed forward in search of an equalizer, but they lacked the cohesion and precision required to break through Sheffield United’s resilient backline. The Blades, marshaled by center-back Anel Ahmedhodžić, stood firm, denying Swansea any clear-cut opportunities to level the score.
The closest Swansea came to an equalizer was in the 88th minute when substitute Jerry Yates found space inside the box but scuffed his shot wide of the post, much to the relief of the home fans.
Sheffield United Rise to Third
The victory was significant for Sheffield United, not just because it maintained their unbeaten run, but also because it lifted them to third place in the Championship standings. Chris Wilder’s return to Bramall Lane has injected a sense of belief into the squad, and the team looks determined to mount a serious promotion challenge this season.

Wilder praised his team’s resilience after the game, acknowledging that it wasn’t their best performance but highlighting the importance of winning games like this over the course of a long season.
“We know we weren’t at our best today, especially in the first half, but the lads dug in and got the job done,” said Wilder. “In this league, you have to win ugly sometimes, and that’s exactly what we did.”
